The Landscape Designer’s Role During Installation: Your Advocate in the Field

The Landscape Designer’s Role: Vision, Layout, and Materials

At YesPlease.GARDEN, we act as your advocate during the installation phase, ensuring your vision is brought to life seamlessly. We believe homeowners benefit significantly from having a design expert with field experience advising the contractor on their behalf.

As your landscape designer, we champion your vision, overseeing layout and material application. We work directly with the contractor, translating the visual plan into actionable work orders. Clear communication of the design intent is crucial, ensuring all tradespeople
understand how their work impacts the overall project.

We’re on-site for key project milestones:

  • Site planning
  • Demolition preparation
  • Drainage plan layout
  • Hardscape layout (often requiring multiple visits)
  • Plant delivery, placement, and facing
  • Irrigation planning and setup
  • Lighting fixture installation
  • Pathway setting
  • Final surface material distribution

When challenges arise, we provide additional diagrams or on-site problem-solving. We get our hands dirty, examine the details, and collaborate with the crews to find the best solutions. We value the crew’s input and guide the decision-making process to ensure the best outcome for your project.

Our YesPlease.GARDEN Approach to Planting

With nearly a decade of experience sourcing thousands of native plants, we leverage our trusted relationships with growers to select the highest quality trees and plants suited to your landscape. We oversee planting day, from delivery to placement, and collaborate on irrigation strategy, including Rachio app setup and post-installation support to address any programming questions.
To ensure a smooth installation, we provide essential elements like gopher wire baskets and tree stakes. For projects incorporating boulders, we hand-select each one, managing delivery and placement.

What About the Assets the Homeowner Provides?

We take the hassle out of integrating your homeowner-to-provide features. We’ll coordinate with your contractor on site prep and utilities for everything from pergolas to outdoor kitchens. As we approach the finish line, we meticulously review all details before project completion, ensuring clear communication with your contractor and preventing any loose ends.

Post-Installation Care

Two weeks after project completion, we return for a final check of the plants, irrigation, and address any concerns. We offer a plant warranty, plant care PDFs, Rachio usage instructions, and a seasonal task calendar tailored to the Tri-Valley and Diablo Valley areas.

At YesPlease.GARDEN, “we design to install.” We’re committed to seeing your project through from concept to completion. We believe this comprehensive approach is in our clients’ best interest.
