When these homeowners presented their design brief, we had two thoughts: (1) how on earth are we going to fit everything they want? and (2) we really want this project. Love a design challenge! This project was a textbook example of collaborating with clients, because we had a lot of solutions that had to be reworked as each iteration of the design flushed new client priorities to the surface.
The great part of 3D design is that most of those conversations can happen before the first shovel hits the dirt. Eventually we landed on a half-court sports court, decided to work with the existing pool configuration and keep the fireplace/kitchen combo. We took out a narrow walkway in the back so we could build a custom water wall. We moved the fenceline to expand the backyard and re-graded the entire front of the home to improve the pitch of the driveway and set up formal stairs to the front door.
The results? Well, they speak for themselves.
